Handel’s Messiah At Furman University

Join the Furman Symphony Orchestra and Oratorio Chorus on Friday evening, December 3rd for Furman’s biennial concert performance of Handel’s Messiah. This concert will feature student soloists, orchestra, and choir under the direction of Dr. Hugh Ferguson Floyd, the Conductor of Furman Singers. Selections from the first part of the oratorio will be performed along with a few borrowed numbers from the second part. The concert as a whole will be about one hour in length. 

Scott Johnson will kick things off with the “Comfort Ye/Every Valley” tenor solos. Other soloists include senior baritone John Potvin and senior mezzo-soprano Salleigh Harvey; junior sopranos Laura Woody, Kaitlyn Applewhite, and Jenna Justice; and sophomores Noah Mofield (tenor) and Libby Hamilton (mezzo-soprano). 

This year, admission will be free. McAlister auditorium is not currently equipped with live-streaming capabilities.
